WESTWOOD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2001--LTX Corporation (Nasdaq/LTXX), a leading supplier of semiconductor test equipment, today announced the release of its powerful VX III high-performance digital subsystem for its system-on-a-chip (SOC) test system, Fusion HF. The VX III enables testing of the higher-speed, complex SOC devices used to power the rapidly expanding digital wireless and broadband access markets. Texas Instruments (TI), the world leader in digital signal processing and analog technologies, has purchased and accepted delivery of multiple VX III-configured Fusions to test its Internet age semiconductor solutions. TI semiconductor technologies are the engines driving the digitization of electronics.
"Our goal at Texas Instruments is to produce the real-time technologies that help people communicate," said Marc Mydill, manager of TI's Test Technology Center. "Fusion offers the speed, waveform flexibility and differential connections needed for next-generation advanced communications devices. In addition to VX III's higher performance, its compatibility with the significant number of applications developed on our fleet of Fusions is a competitive advantage for TI."
Roger Blethen, President and CEO of LTX, added, "As we progress deeper into the Internet age, real-time signal-processing technologies are being developed at lightning fast speeds. With our release of Fusion's VX III subsystem, LTX upholds its corporate commitment to drive the technology curve for leaders like Texas Instruments. Fusion's scaleable, single-platform test technology helps TI to quickly bring its most advanced chips to market."
Noteworthy VX III Features:
Testing the next generation of complex SOC devices requires increased timing flexibility and higher data rates. The VX III's enhanced timing waveforms meet these rigorous device testing demands and can produce test signals required for advanced communication devices such as 3G wireless, Gigabit Ethernet and OC192 SONET.
Also integrated into each digital pin of the VX III is the Memory Test Option (MTO). This option supports at-speed test of embedded memories including FLASH, SRAM and DRAM. The option's Memory Descriptor tool permits device-oriented memory programming, a significant improvement over conventional tester-oriented memory programming, allowing multiple embedded memories to be efficiently tested, characterized and bitmapped.
The VX III's Topological Scrambling feature supports more complex memory configurations and allows for memory test patterns that incorporate the physical attributes of the layout. Memory enhancements such as larger memories and faster buses increase throughput and shorten time to market for SOC devices by reducing program development and debug cycles.
Fusion HF, configurable with up to 1024 500MHz I/O digital channels, offers a comprehensive SOC solution with the best digital VLSI, embedded memory and mixed signal test capability in one platform. Its suite of instruments provides enabling test technology for the advanced functions being embedded in SOC devices. With its ability to test the complete spectrum of semiconductors, Fusion also significantly improves tester utilization. Fusion is powered by enVision++, a revolutionary new programming environment that combines reusable, object-oriented digital programming with highly flexible mixed-signal test development.
