WESTWOOD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 2001--LTX Corporation (Nasdaq: LTXX), a leading supplier of system-on-a-chip test equipment, along with Ando Electric Co., Ltd. LTX's Fusion Partner in Japan, today announced that NEC Corporation has purchased multiple Fusion HF test systems. NEC, the second largest semiconductor manufacturer in the world, will use Fusion, and its Ando developed AL7275 digital subsystem, to test graphic accelerator chips used in next generation game machines, as well as, other strategic system-on-a-chip devices.
After a thorough two-year evaluation Fusion emerged as NEC's system of choice for testing their next generation graphics and computer peripheral devices. Fusion's high throughput architecture, advanced mixed signal options and multisite test capability, combined with Fusion's powerful enVision++ software, will enable NEC to bring their next generation products to market more quickly, and with a lower cost of test, than with competing testers.
Roger Blethen, President and CEO of LTX, added, "Fusion's single-platform approach appeals to top semiconductor manufacturers like NEC who have aggressive product roadmaps. With the advent of shorter product lifecycles and greater product complexity, it has become increasingly important for companies to test a wide range of devices on a single flexible platform. Fusion can be easily and quickly reconfigured to test any system-on-a-chip device NEC produces."
Mr. Blethen further commented, "Ando has done a great job of developing Fusion's digital capabilities for the Japanese market. Winning the NEC decision is validation of our strategy to broaden the market for Fusion by partnering with high-caliber companies like Ando."
Fusion HF, configurable with up to 1024 500MHz I/O digital channels, offers a comprehensive system-on-a-chip solution with the best digital VLSI, embedded memory, and mixed signal test capability in one platform. Its suite of instruments provides enabling test technology for the advanced functions being embedded in system-on-a-chip devices. With its ability to test the complete spectrum of semiconductors, Fusion also significantly improves tester utilization. Fusion is powered by enVision++, a revolutionary new programming environment that combines reusable, object-oriented digital programming with highly flexible mixed signal test development.
NEC Corporation (NASDAQ: NIPNY) is a leading provider of Internet solutions, dedicated to meeting the specialized needs of its customers in the key computer, network and electron device fields through its three market-focused in-house companies: NEC Solutions, NEC Networks and NEC Electron Devices.
